The theme for the 2021-2022 Contest is:  “The Best Me is Drug Free!”All entries for the poster, essay, and video contests must be submitted to your local Elks Lodge by Feb. 14, 2022 for consideration.  Judging will be based on closeness to theme, originality, positive anti-abuse message, neatness, correct grammatical structure, and age/language appropriateness.  The use of copyrighted material is prohibited (with the exception of Elroy!).  Download the Rules Booklet, and see below for more details on each contest:  

POSTER CONTEST:  Open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders; submitted in 8 ½ by 11 format; entrant’s name, full address, phone number, age, grade level, school, teacher and local Elks Lodge must be entered on the submission form.  [download poster contest rules here].

ESSAY CONTEST:  Open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders; should be no longer than 250 words; entrant’s name, full address, phone number, age, grade level, school, teacher and local Elks Lodge must be entered on the submission form.  [download essay contest rules here].

VIDEO CONTEST:  The contest is open to 3 age groups, Pre-High School (grades 4-8), High School and Post Grad.  Entrants may be individuals or groups.  Videos should be 2-5 min. duration; entrant’s name(s), full address(es), phone number(s), age(s), grade level(s), school(s), teacher(s) and local Elks Lodge should be included with the submission.  If minors, the entrant’s parent or legal guardian must complete a parental waiver form with submission. Each Lodge will select their Lodge’s winners.  The local Lodges will notify local winners.  Lodge winners will be sent to District Competition.  District winners will compete at the state level. The top four entries at the state level in each category will receive a certificate and gift from the State Association.  All winning entries become the sole property of the Connecticut Elks Association and may not be returned. A single winner for each of the poster, essay, and video contests will then be forwarded to the national Elks Association for consideration in the national competition.
