As you know, more than 23,000 students applied for a 2021 Most Valuable Student scholarship. We recently concluded national judging, and we wanted to make sure you were among the first to hear the good news.

Allan Riedel-Morillo, sponsored by Waterbury, CT Lodge No. 265, has advanced through all levels of judging and is officially one of the Top 20 MVS Finalists!

This means that Allan will receive a scholarship of at least $20,000 from the Elks National Foundation and will interview for one of the top MVS awards of $30,000, $40,000, or $50,000 later this April.

While we would normally fly our national finalists to Chicago for a three-day Leadership Weekend, the health and safety of our scholars are our number one priority. Therefore, the 2021 Leadership Weekend will be virtual again this year.

However, we believe in the power of getting Elks scholars together, even if it's virtually! We'll use video conferencing to conduct a portion of our Leadership Weekend programming, as well as the official interview.

Make sure to spread the good news! We’ll post more about our new Top 20 Finalists on the ENF’s social media pages, and we’ll officially announce the 483 MVS Semi-Finalists on the MVS webpage later this week.

If you have any well wishes for Allan or any questions, please reply to this message by April 11. Thank you for helping us welcome our new scholars into the Elks family!
